Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-22
The List (“we”, “us”), operated by The List, is an app for keeping one curated list of things you love and sharing it with people you connect with. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account — your email address and a handle/display name, used to create and secure your account.
- Your content — the entries you add to your list and any optional metadata (a place, people you tag, an approximate date).
- Social graph — who you follow and who you connect with via the Connect pairing.
- Usage & diagnostics — pseudonymous product analytics and crash/error reports to keep the app working.
How we use it
To provide the core features (your list, profiles, following, Connect), to keep accounts secure, to understand and improve the product in aggregate, and to enforce our Terms and keep the community safe.
Service providers
We share limited data with vendors who process it on our behalf:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Railway / PostgreSQL — application hosting and database.
- PostHog — privacy-conscious product analytics and error diagnostics.
- Google Places — to look up a place when you tag one.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your content & visibility
Entries you mark private are never shown to anyone but you. Account-level privacy controls who can see your list. You can edit or delete any entry at any time.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your list, entries, and connections; we delete associated personal data except where we must retain limited records for legal or safety reasons. To request a copy of your data, contact us at hello@bettertogether.technology.
Children
The List is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California — you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it’s inaccurate, to delete it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@bettertogether.technology and we’ll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as the app evolves and revise the date above. Material changes will be surfaced in-app.
